Charming English Cottage
Great Hockham, Norfolk
Quiet Village Location
Norfolk Holiday Cottage
Situated in the quintessential English village of Great Hockham on the edge of Thetford Forest, Old School Cottage is well situated for visiting some of East Anglia’s historic places of interest. In early medieval times this area was one of the most prosperous in England and there are many beautiful villages and interesting market towns. You’ll also find magnificent stately homes and gardens, ancient churches and cathedrals to explore nearby. This Norfolk holiday cottage is just a short stroll away from the popular village pub, The Eagle, much loved by locals and visitors alike.
Norwich, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge are all within easy reach. The holiday cottage is about an hour’s drive from either the Norfolk or Suffolk coast. Nestled in the oldest part of a quiet conservation village, Old School Cottage is the perfect home from home for a relaxing and peaceful Norfolk holiday. It is also an ideal base for walkers and cyclists with numerous waymarked trails and graded routes around the village itself, surrounding woodland, Thetford Forest Park and local nature reserves. Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve in Suffolk is also less than 10 miles away.
Old School Cottage is a brick & flint 18th century cottage which has recently been refurbished. This Norfolk holiday cottage is warm and welcoming with a wealth of beams and other period features. The cottage adjoins the neighbouring house at one corner, but has its own private entrance and enclosed south-facing garden with patio, garden furniture and large bike store. The cottage has been furnished and equipped with love and attention and we have tried to provide everything guests will need to make their stay as comfortable as possible.
The accommodation includes a spacious living room with woodburning stove, dining room, fully equipped country style kitchen, bathroom/WC with shower over bath, master bedroom with king-size bed and adjoining dressing room. The upstairs bedrooms can be accessed by separate staircases and a floorplan is included in the photo gallery. It is important to note that, although ceilings are a good height in all rooms, Old School Cottage is still a typical Norfolk country cottage with steep stairs and a few low doorways.
